Saturdays at the Shop

NOTE (10-21-04): Due to a one-year change in focus, we are sorry to say that we will be providing tours generally by appointment only during the 2004-2005 academic year. In order to complete a number of facility safety and other organizational projects efficiently and without risk to visitors, our Saturday volunteer activities will focus strictly on that type of work. Feel free to call 530-754-9888 and 530-848-6446 for availability in advance of a desired visiting time. Thanks for your understanding.

Saturday afternoons are our regular weekly work-party, hangout, road trip, and related days at the shop. Though we usually don't start earlier, we do often work or hang around late.

We try to maintain a public "open door" from 12-4 to provide tours or answer questions, so for a new UCD student this is the best time to drop in, walk around, hang out, and even get involved if some basic safety items are checked out with the safety person.

Please feel free to drop by and look around without obligation. Sometimes things are slow and sometimes there's lots of stuff going on. Especially if your Saturday afternoons are usually slow and you're looking for someplace where soon everyone will know your name and welcome you through the door, come out a few times and see one of the neatest little-known places on campus.

On the other hand, if you've only got a little time every now and then or on a regular basis you will also find that you will learn and enjoy tools, machinery, and people. Feel free to email our listserve tractors@ucdavis.edu and we'll put you on so you can see our weekly activity review for consideration.

We occupy several old airplane hangars and a yard adjacent to the UC Davis Airport located one mile west of 113 as the crow flys. Wear closed toed shoes and long pants, please.

Hope to see you out there sometime.
